Electrostatic pulse energy can generate local heat, so direct breakdown of the lamp and IC failure. This fault occurs even when the voltage is lower than the breakdown voltage of the medium. A typical example is that leds are diodes made up of PN junctions, where a breakdown between the emitter and the base causes a sharp decrease in current gain. LED itself or IC in the drive circuit may not be damaged immediately after being affected by static electricity. These potentially damaged components are usually shown in the process of use, so the impact on the life of LED products is fatal.
